The only time all year long I watch college basketball is during "March Madness". I love filling out a bracket and trying to pick the upsets.

The bad thing about "March Madness" is most of the games take place during the day when the tournament first gets started. It is hard to keep track of the Ohio State score with your boss peeking over your shoulder.

Well Hooters has come to the rescue! They are offering up a doctor's excuse, along with a coupon for a free appetizer. Super Bowl Sunday Means Super Bowl Props

The Super Bowl reminds me of my grandfather. We loved betting on the Super Bowl props. We would put $10 on 10 we thought we could win and would watch the games together. It just makes watching more fun. My grandfather taught me how to gamble and while some might think that is a bad thing, it is one of my fondest memories. He taught me how to play cards and then would get me in the game with all his friends and I would take all their money. When I was 13 years old, I told people when I grow up I wanted to become a bookie. My grandfather is a lot of the reason I am the person I am today and I like who I am.

My grandfather passed away in 2005. To be honest, things have not been the same since. I miss him very much. I still carry on the props tradition and would like to share with you my picks for today.

My first pick of course was to take my Steelers +3. I love taking the Steelers as an underdog because they usually cover, if not win the game. I am counting on them to win it outright today.

Now for the props...we always do the coin toss. This year I am going to go with tails.

My next prop just looked so obvious to me. Usually that is a bad sign but I am going to go ahead and go with it. I have taken the over for longest field goal of 43.5 yards. How many games have there been at least 45 yard field goals? Surely one of these kickers can hit one in an indoor stadium.

Last but not least...Heath Miller. I love this guy and this one jumped out at me. I have taken Heath Miller to go over 3.5 receptions today.

The Chiefs lost on Sunday. It certainly didn't stop these two from having a great day! Your team loses...why not go at it on the hood of a car after the game? I just hope it was their car.

Should I be proud or ashamed of being a resident of the state of Missouri?? It's a toss-up I think.

Tony Romo Out With Injury

Tony Romo will miss 6-8 weeks with a broken collarbone, suffered at the hands of the NY Giants during last night's game. Jon Kitna is the backup for the Cowboys and has not looked very good so far.

I think you can kiss the Cowboys season good-bye. I am grinning from ear to ear. Jerry Jones is probably vomiting right now in the shrimp cocktail bowl. Ahhh life is good.

Every year I like to throw out a few random predictions I have come up with during the off-season. So here we go...

Everyone will know who Arian Foster is by the end of the year.

Aaron Rodgers is going to make Green Bay fans forget about Brett Favre.

Tom Brady has really bad hair. Get it cut man.

The Broncos fans will build a shrine to Tim Tebow and worship there daily.

Kurt Warner will be kicked off "Dancing with the Stars" the first week. The man could not even slide in the pocket what makes people think he can dance??

T.O. and Ochocinco will be fighting by the end of the year.

Matt Leinart will be a TV commentator after this season.

Thinking I will go with Cici's pizza this year over Domino's. Much cheaper and times are tough.

The Indianapolis Colts will not make the playoffs this year.

I would rather stay at home with my big screen tv, Red Zone channel and surround sound than to attend a game at a stadium.

Everyone will wish they had Ryan Mathews on their fantasy teams.

Vernon Davis should not be the highest paid TE in the league.

It sucks that Tom Brady can stand up straight, tall and still in the pocket while Roethlisberger has to run for his life every down. Man if roles were reversed I would love to see what kind of QB Brady really is.

Last but not least, the Steelers will win the Superbowl this year. Yea, I know...I say it every year. A girl has to be loyal to her team no matter what.

ESPN is reporting that Willie Parker has been cut by the Washington Redskins.

I haven't seen any of the Redskins pre-season games this year to see how he is doing but you would think this guy could make their roster. Pretty sure some team will pick him up shortly.

The Cuban Missile Crisis II

This Cuban is going to cause a crisis for the St. Louis Cardinals. This Cuban is Aroldis Chapman, his arm, the missile. The Cincinnati Reds recently called him up from the minors where it was not uncommon to clock his pitches at 105 mph. Randy Johnson topped out at around 102 mph if that gives you an idea of the stuff this kid has.

I think the addition of Chapman is going to be just the edge the Reds need to clinch the Central division and move on in the playoffs. My only concern is Chapman being overworked very quickly. Let''s hope Dusty Baker will take it easy on him so he lasts through the playoffs.

I just love seeing the Cardinals in crisis. It makes my heart warm.

Mariotti Arrested For Domestic Dispute

Farewell Brett Favre

It is being announced on ESPN that Brett Favre told the Minnesota Vikings last night that he will retire.

I really thought he would play one more year so this shocks me a bit. Minnesota has a good shot to get back into the playoffs again and go all the way. I have always enjoyed watching him play and he will be missed.

More than anything though, I hope we don't have to go through all the retired, now un-retired stuff again. Stay gone Brett. Your last season was your best season stats wise, go out on top.

Well Lebron has moved onto become a member of the Miami Heat. I think it is safe to say next years NBA Finals will be between the Lakers and the Heat. Lebron with D-Wade and Chris Bosh. It just isn't fair.

I feel bad for the people of Cleveland. They really haven't had much luck with sports in that town. John Elway will be forever famous for screwing the Browns out of the Superbowl with "The Drive." In 1997 blowing Game 7 of the World Series. Now this...the kid from your state takes off to Miami Beach. I am sorry people of Cleveland. You deserve better.

There is one bright spot...one of the best new shows on TV, "Hot in Cleveland" has just been signed to another year. No more Lebron but at least there is always Betty White.

How Much Longer Until Football Season???

I am bored. The Cubs suck. No arena football. World Cup???? Whatever. I need some football. My heart did beat a little faster this morning when I saw Yahoo is starting to let people sign up to play fantasy football. We must be getting closer. I got out my calendar and counted it out. 95 more days. That is 3 more months people! So I have to come up with something to keep me occupied for 3 more long heart-wrenching months.

After much thought I have come up with a list of things to have done by September 9th...aka the first NFL game that really counts.

1. I will have read at least 10 books. To some people that will seem simple but I am telling you it took me 6 months to get through that "Twilight" book. Whatever the 2nd one was called.

2. My bedroom closet will be cleaned out. I can barely open the door right now. By Sept. 9th, I will be able to have a small cocktail party in there.

3. I will have bought a new Steelers jersey for this season since I had to get rid of Santonio Holmes and don't feel too good about wearing Roethlisberger out in public right now. Thinking... I don't know...maybe Polamalu away jersey or Mendenhall home jersey.

4. I will finally make a budget and try to live by it. I spend so much money on stupid stuff all the time. This way I will have more money for Domino's Pizza delivery once the season starts. No more looking for loose change in the sofa.

5. I will have written both my regular bucket list and my sports bucket list down somewhere and put in a notebook so I can look at it and make a plan to make it all happen. Life is too short and I have a ton of things I want to see and do.

6. I will work out 6 days a week at least 30 minutes per day. This way I will be big and strong and able to throw heavy things at my TV when the Steelers lose.

7. I will watch all 5 seasons of "Weeds". Heard too many great things about the show...I need to see what it is all about.

8. I will take one more writing class. This time one that makes you actually write so that maybe one day this might be a decent blog.

Waiting for Football Season...

A fellow co-worker has gotten me involved in a home run derby pool. I will do pretty much anything if it involves the chance to compete and win money. The cost is $10 per team. 7 players are picked to be on your team. Of course you cannot pick Pujols, Howard, Gonzalez, etc. You get one of those players. Then you pick from a "B" group and then a few from the "C" group.

Considering we are months away from football season, I am hoping that this will take my mind off things. So here is the team I put together...
Ryan Howard, Miguel Cabrera, Ryan Braun, Mark Teixeira, Evan Longoria, Alfonso Soriano and Jay Bruce.

I hope more than anything it makes watching baseball more interesting. It will never take the place of football but it just might keep me from watching the NFL Combine videos over and over all summer.

Delhomme to Be Released Friday

ESPN new is reporting that Jake Delhomme will be released from the Carolina Panthers as early as tomorrow.

They made a huge mistake when they signed him to that big deal last year. The guy has always been injury prone and well, he just sucks. Delhomme threw way too many interceptions. Matt Moore got his shot last year and did well, so the Panthers are in good shape without Delhomme.

According to ESPN, the San Diego Chargers have traded Antonio Cromartie to the NY Jets for a 2011 3rd round pick.

Are you Chargers cleaning house or what? First Tomlinson and now Cromartie. What I don't understand about this trade is they get absolutely nothing for giving him up this year. They have to wait for the 2011 draft. I think the Chargers might regret this move.

A Paragraph Turned In

Well my assignment from last week was to turn in a paragraph from a piece of work I would submit for our last assignment...could be fiction or non-fiction. The dilema I ran into was this...I have many ideas for great books or movies, etc. I am in an online class with many different people that are on different levels. There is a guy in class that has had a book published already. There is a woman in class that has finished and book and turned it into several publishers. So my thinking was...don't use your best idea. What if someone that has more connections were to take my idea and use it as their own? So I used something that I came up with when I was living in Colorado several years ago...suspense/thrilled type thing. Here is what I submitted...

Well, this has method has not worked so well picking winners in the playoff games. Let's just finish the season and I might have to actually look at stats or something to pick winners next year.

In the past, I would compare the quarterbacks of the teams...but honestly I am not into either Peyton "Big Forehead" Manning or Drew "Combover" Brees. So I thought maybe I should have it between the two tight ends then realized they are both pretty fugly. So that leaves me with comparing the running backs. Reggie Bush vs Joseph Addai.

Let's start with Joseph...he has dreds...very cool. But I am thinking there is a reason I could hardly find any pictures of him without his helmet on. Check it out for yourself...

Next we move to the Saints and let me tell you...ding ding ding we have a winner. Reggie Bush is hot! Kim Kardashian found herself a hottie. Check out these abs. Abs always win...Saints 34 Colts 31. Enjoy the game everyone!

Writing Class Assignment

I have signed up for a couple of writing classes and thought that I would share a few of the things I have written in the class on here from time to time. Not sure they will always have something to do with sports but I hope you find them interesting and please leave feedback...good and bad.
The assignment this week was to write a dialogue with an inanimate object. I chose my big screen tv.

A Dialogue With My Big Screen

Me: I think you are the biggest tv I have ever seen. I fell in love with you at first sight. But that was in 2004 and they have come out with much smaller versions…easier to handle. You are the size of a small automobile and I should probably let you go and get a smaller tv.

Tv: Oprah says big is beautiful.

Me: I told you to stop watching Oprah. Oprah is the devil. You shouldn’t listen to what she says. She has already brainwashed half of America. Anyways, I know we have been through so much together…we watched the Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece. We saw my beloved Pittsburgh Steelers win 2 Superbowls together and saw the election of the first African-American President. We have so many great memories together but you are just too big.

TV: “That’s what she said.”

Me: Seriously??? You are going to make jokes at a time like this? I am about to send you packing.

TV: “He…could… go…all…the… way!”

Me: Give me one good reason to keep you. Then I might let you stay.

TV: “Because I am good enough, smart enough and doggone it-people like me.”

Me: You are a tv…you are not smart.

TV: “Gee Mrs. Cleaver.” “I’m not a doctor but I play one on TV.”

Me: Maybe I should just do without a tv. I spend way too much time watching you and getting very little done. By now I could have written 3 books with all the time I have wasted watching you. I can feel my brain cells dying as I am speaking to you.

TV: “Oh my God! I killed Kenny!”

Me: Ok, that’s it. I am putting up an ad on Craigslist today. You can go live with another family.

TV: “Is that your final answer?”

Me: Ahhhhh! Yes, that is my final answer.

Letting Lust Pick the Playoffs Round 3

Last week was a disaster. Let's hope I can get it together this week.

First pick will have to be Mark Sanchez. When I saw this picture I nearly fell out of my chair. The ladies love the curls and abs. Yes Mark, I will have your baby. Sanchez over big forehead Manning by 3.

We move on to the NFC Championship game. Boy this was a tough one. But Drew Brees is killing me with his messed up comb over. Drew, just shave your head already! Gotta take the older, wiser, more mature Favre in this matchup. Vikings by 7.

Discovered NFL Entertainment Director

This ladies and gentlemen is apparently the man that picks the halftime entertainment at the Superbowl.

I don't believe I have been happy about any of the choices since Prince. Seriously, is The Who the best we can do??? I am tired of all these old farts trying to entertain at halftime. Bruce Springsteen, Paul McCartney, The Rolling Stones and now the The Who.

Why can't we get the entertainers at least from this decade? What about Beyonce? Pink? The Black Eyed Peas? At this point I would even welcome an all Idol winners halftime...yes even Taylor Hicks.

NFL...please put someone else in charge of this! If not I will have to start shutting down the TV at halftime and sing songs from the "Glee" soundtrack for my guests.

Letting Lust Pick Playoff Games Round 2

Well I didn't do so bad last week...3 out 4 is not bad at all. Now we move to round 2.

Flacco vs Manning. This one was easy...Flacco. There is just something about Peyton's shiny huge forehead that freaks me out. Baltimore by 3.

Phillip Rivers vs Mark Sanchez. Ok, I have to confess...I have had a crush on Phillip Rivers for quite some time. I like his fiery personality...the competitor in him, along with that cute slight Southern accent he has. Mark Sanchez is hot, but he knows it. San Diego by a TD.

Kurt Warner vs Drew Brees. How do I put this nicely?? With the bad combover he is rocking lately and the birth mark that probably should have been removed long ago...Drew Brees is an acquired taste to say the least. Kurt is a handsome devil. Arizona by 4.

Now we come to pick that will make me many enemies. Romo vs Favre. I am sorry but I have to go with the dimples. Let us all pray the old man pulls one off. Cowboys by 3.

McGwire Finally Comes Out

We all knew it. His head was three times the size it was when he first started playing in the 80's. His thighs were the size of tree trunks. But we didn't want to believe it was true. So we believed all the home run records he broke...we believed his swing was just that incredible. Today we got the let down.

Mr. McGwire, you owe me. You owe me for all the newspapers I bought in 98 when you broke Maris' record. You owe me for limited edition coin. For the autographed 8x10 of you and Sammy. You owe me lots of time...time I spent watching your games. For the rookie cards stashed away, an investment wasted.

To watch you on tv now crying and talking about all the pressure of performing. How you were hurt and couldn't play like you should. Give me a break. If you can't play, then retire. I do not feel sorry for you. When you were asked in Congress about steriod use, you dodged the question. I suppose that is better than lying in your eyes. But your whole career is a lie now. It is tarnished. If I had a vote, it would be a "No" vote for the Hall of Fame.

It is a scary day when you realize Jose Canseco might actually be the most honest player in baseball.

Letting Lust Pick Playoff Games

Thought it might be fun this year to make my playoff picks based on who has the hottest QB. Yea, that's right...act like a real girl that knows absolutely nothing about football. Let's see if there is any merit to this.

Start right away with the hottest...Mark Sanchez. It is not fair that a guy looks like this and can throw a football. Jets beat the Bengals in a close game.

Next up would be Tom Brady. Yes, I hate him but you have to admit he is good looking ok??? Patriots over the Ravens in a blowout.

Moving to the NFC we will start with the guy that has the best dimples in the world...Tony Romo. He loses a few points for dating Jessica Simpson but I will let that slide and still go with Tony over Donovan McNabb. Cowboys by 3.

Last but certainly not least...Mr. Kurt Warner. I have had a crush on him ever since I saw him on the field in the pre-season game for the Rams when Trent Green was injured. Pocket presence does it for me every time. Arizona by 7.

Charlie Weis Headed To KC

The Kansas City Chiefs have hired Charlie Weis to be their offensive coordinator according to ESPN.

I hate this. The Chiefs are becoming the New England Patriots Part II. This team is right in my own back yard and even though I am Steelers fan I occasionally root for the Chiefs because I feel bad for them. Now I will hate the Chiefs just as much as the Patriots. Shanny Gets A New Gig

According to ESPN, the Washington Redskins have signed Mike Shanahan to a 5 year deal to coach the team.

Zorn wasn't the answer for sure but I am not feeling good about Shanny taking this job either. The Broncos had a great team 2 years in a row and he got lucky because he hasn't done much since. I think Dan Snyder might have made yet another bad decision. Surely he can do a little better than Zorn has been doing though.

Making Picks for Big Money

I run an office pool every year and last year I won the year end pot. In order for folks to know I don't cheat, I generally make a copy of my picks to leave with someone at work on Friday. Well this year, I am in it again. Sue has the lead by one game...Bob is 2 games behind me. It will be a close one. Here are my picks this week. I have my toes and fingers crossed I can pull this off and win it again.

Buffalo-Indy obviously doesn't care if they win again until the playoffs start.

Cleveland- Don't think Jacksonville will like playing in the cold.

Dallas- This one drove me nuts. They both need it. I will take the home team.

Chicago- If Cutler can't beat Detroit he might as well hang it up.

Houston- Thinking New England will just lay down and Houston needs to win.

Pittsburgh- Gotta have this one boys.

Minn- think they will play hard today and get a win in a very close game.

NY Jets- They must win and Cinci is going to take it easy.

San Fran- Me and some high school boys could beat the Rams.

Atlanta- Should get this one without any problems.

Arizona- Another tough one for me. I think Arizona will pull it off in a close one.

Denver- I hope the Chiefs will go out with a bang and win this one but Denver should get the victory.

Baltimore- I am praying they lose but Oakland would have to put Kenny "The Snake" Stabler back on the field in order to do that.

San Diego- I think their backups could beat Washington's starters.

Tenn- Have I mentioned I love Vince Young???

The owner buys up all the best players and it just doesn't seem like the other teams have a fair shake. It is being reported on ESPN that Brett Favre has been listed on the injury report this week with a foot injury.

This is the first time Brett has been on this list thus far and isn't it strange that he is on the list right before his first game against the Packers???

I imagine playing against an old team would be somewhat the equivalent to running into an ex that dumped you for a younger stud muffin. You will be nervous when you see them, wishing you had just gone to the Target instead of Wal-mart that day but there they are in front of you...all happy and pawing at each other. It is just enough to make you want to run out to the parking lot and slam your foot into one of those concrete parking thingies. Thus you are on the injured list. I can relate Brett...really I can.

Brett Favre had better be on that field Monday night because we as football fans crave this kind of crap. The old team, the new stud muffin at QB and a few 100 shots of Brett's wife in the stands. Monday Night Football could not be any sweeter than if the Steelers were to play the Cowboys and win in Dallas 1000-0. The one time the Steelers have to punt, Dan Sepulveda kicks the ball high enough to crash into Jerry's monster screens and break them forever. Now, that is a perfect Monday night football game.

Plaxico Burress was carted off today to begin his two year prison sentence for a gun charge. Burress' one night of fun has now cost him playing time in the NFL, watching his son grow up and witnessing the birth of his 2nd child. I sure hope he had a great time on the night he shot himself in the leg.

Hanging out in clubs with a loaded weapon is just not an intelligent move. I know many of the players feel like they need protection when they go out in public but why not hire a bodyguard?

The Madden curse is alive and well. Troy Polamalu is out 3-6 weeks after being injured in the first game of the season so now we just wait to see what happens to Larry Fitzgerald. I am predicting he will be injured in the Week 7 game against the NY Giants. Kind of like the office pool for baby due dates but with football injuries...

When will the players stop jumping on the cover of this game??? If I were playing and was asked I would run and hide. I don't care how much was offered to me. Here is a brief history of the curse...

2002-Culpepper on the cover. He was injured for 4 games. Minnesota finished 5-11.

2003-Marshall Faulk. Was not injured but had his worst rushing season to date.

2004- Michael Vick. Broke his leg, missed 11 games.

2005-Ray Lewis. Did not record an interception for the 1st time in his career.

2006-Donovan McNabb. Suffered a hernia and was out for the rest of the season.

Today is the day I live for. The start of the NFL season. My heart is pounding...I am alive again. Tonight the Steelers play the Titans to kick off the season. I cannot wait mainly because I am a Steelers freak and after the incident last season where the Titans players (mainly fattie Lendale White) stomped all over the Terrible Towel, I want these bastards to pay. Final score 64-0 Pittsburgh. Titan jerks. Lendale White held to -24 yards rushing and he gets so upset he calls Dominos to deliver to the sidelines so he can feed his face. You don't mess with the towel. You just don't.

I am a fanatic, what can I say? I am a member of my team, I wear the jersey...I feel the pain and I rejoice for Superbowl victories. To me, today is better than Christmas. For the next 6 months I will not move from my recliner on Sundays. It starts today...a new beginning for all 32 teams. Can you feel it???

A Peek Into the Life of a Diehard Steelers Fan

I have been asked time and time again how on earth I became a Steelers fan considering I grew up in Tennessee. So I will share a few family photos and maybe you will gain some insight as to how I became me.

This is baby Chanin. From what I was told my parents showed me a Dallas Cowboys cheerleader outfit and I puked up my baby food all over that. Upon seeing the Steelers outfit I smiled for a week straight and stopped having massive diarrhea.

This is my dog, TB (Terry Bradshaw...duh!). I have her trained on command to piss on anything with the Cowboys logo on it.

This is my living room. Some say I might have overdone it a bit with the yellow paint on the walls but it was either yellow or black and I think the yellow brightens the room and accents all my wonderful collectibles.

This is my bedroom. I really wanted to paint the walls yellow in here but the landlord finally caught on and told me if I put one more stroke of yellow paint on his house he would shove the paintbrush up my ass sideways. He must be a Cowboys fan. Uptight bastard.

This is my boyfriend Jerry. Isn't he hot??? He debated long and hard about whether to get me an engagement ring or this tattoo and the tattoo won. That was 6 years ago. He says he has been behind on his bills ever since and one day he will get me a ring and we will be married on Heinz Field. I am so lucky to have found him. What a catch!

This is my brother Steve. He has a Sunday ritual of running up and down his street right before the game starts. We are not sure if he does this because he loves the Steelers so much or because he was recently released from a mental institution and just loves his freedom and wide open spaces.

This is Javon, my brother from another mother (very very long story). He is a truck driver and has his truck decked out. Jerry likes to tell me Javon likes boys because he brings one home with him after every run but I don't believe that for a second. Javon told me they are interior decorators from all over the country and they give him ideas on how to decorate his house. Jerry is so stupid sometimes.

This is my cousin Wanda. She likes Ben Roethlisberger and Oreos. Lots of Oreos...

Last but not least...this is my mom. She said when she dies I will inherit her "Terrible Bra". Is it bad that I cannot wait??? Damn I want that bra! She says if I continue to piss her off she will write me out of her will so I have started seriously kissing her ass. Last week I polished her bowling ball and shoes, then dropped off a case of her favorite cocktail...Jack Daniels. That should keep me in the will for at least another month or two.

Major TV Night Tonight

Tonight will be my first real test. Monday night is my big time tv night. Generally, I get home at 5:30pm and do not budge out of my chair until around 11pm.

I have recently become addicted to "The T.O. Show" on VH1. I love T.O. after watching the 1st episode last week. But sadly, I will have to miss him tonight.

I also watch "Obsessed" on Monday nights. This show follows around people with OCD issues. I think my main reason for watching is it just makes me feel a little less crazy for an hour.

But my main show on Monday nights..."My Life On The D List". I adore Kathy Griffin. I know most people find her very annoying and rude. But I love her. I think her mom Maggie is super cool and missing the episode tonight where she campaigns for gay rights is absolutely killing me.

I think it is high time I find a hobby or something...this is just sad.

Experiment: One Week Without Television

I have made it almost the entire weekend without watching television. I honestly thought this would be much more difficult than it has been so far. I think the weekdays will be more difficult just because my routine during the week seems to be get off work, get something to eat and plant myself in front of the TV until time for bed.

"Day 2 without tv: grocery shopping, furniture shopping, trip to library, mineral museum, trip to Kellogg lake and then for a drive. Holy crap! Seems I actually get out of the house when I don't watch tv."

One Week Without TV Update

Well it has been determined that we must delete all the programming that we miss all week from our Tivo's or that would be considered cheating. This is going to be so hard.

Cindy is having a difficult time already.
I informed her this morning that her Tivo'd programs must be deleted and I am pretty certain she just might stab me before this is all over. She would like to relay this message to Grumpy regarding the Tivo rule..."if he keeps having you change the rules his name will go on my poop list that remains on my fridge at all times... once your name goes on it never comes off, however your name can be on there multiple times." Uh oh Grumpy!

So let's get the rules straight and get ready for Friday.
1. You cannot watch a Tivo'd program that was recorded during the duration of the contest.
2. Playing video games and watching dvds are not allowed. TV is not to be turned on at all.
3. No watching tv programs online.

Experiment: One Week Without Television

Occasionally I like to test myself. Do something that makes me a little uncomfortable...see what I am made of.

I will be the first to admit I am addicted to television. If I were to take the time to list every show I watch religiously, well you would be terribly frightened. So I had the thought what would I do if I wasn't watching tv so much? Cleaning? Reading? Writing? Knitting? The possibilities are endless. I might actually go spend time with my family or something.

So I have enlisted my tv watching buddy Cindy to join me in this challenge. We watch "Hung" and "True Blood" together every week at my house. Someone has to suffer with me and since I cannot watch "True Blood" this week, well then neither should she.

We will start this experiment on Friday, July 24th and we will not be allowed to watch tv at all until Friday, July 31st. I think for me the hardest part of this will be ESPN. I sleep with ESPN News on. I guess I will have to rely on all my sports news from the internet for a week. God help me!

Chiefs Sign Cassel To Mega-Millions

Matt Cassel must feel like he has just won the lottery. According to John Clayton, at ESPN.com, the Chiefs have signed Cassel to a 6 year, $63 million dollar deal, with $28 million of it guaranteed.

Personally, I think this is a bit much for a QB that had one good season but hey, it is the Chiefs and they do stupid things just for fun. I can't wait to see how this plays out...

Tony must have read my blog, realized that I was completely right and those dimples can get himself a much better babe.

This is the greatest day ever! I have really wanted to like Tony Romo (even though he plays for the despised Cowboys) and now I LOVE him! To dump a chick the day before her birthday is classic! In honor of UFC 100 this weekend, Jimmy has picked UFC ring girl... Arianny Celeste. It takes a very special person to be able to handle that large sign and display it just so everyone can see what round it is. I mean, that my friends is a true talent. I had no idea how difficult it was until I saw firsthand what can go wrong if you have the wrong ring girl.

At one of our previous UFC parties, the boys all pitched in to hire a stripper to be their ring girl for the night. She drank all their beer, puked on my kitchen floor and set fire to our cardboard ring sign. I could not buy enough Lysol to make myself feel good enough about the germs she left in my house.

McNair Murder-Suicide Confirmed

According to Yahoo.com, the police have finally wrapped this one up and Sahel Kazemi apparently shot Steve McNair while he was sleeping on the couch. Once to the head, then twice to the chest and one more time to the head. She then sat on the floor beside his body and shot herself in the head.

Kazemi was having some financial issues with making two car payments and having her rent doubled. She also suspected that McNair was seeing another woman on the side other than her.

What a sad mess this is. I don't know what else to say really.

The St. Paul Pioneer Press is reporting that Favre has put down a $30,000 deposit on a condo in Edina, MN. The paper goes on to say they believe the announcement will come shortly before single game ticket sales start on July 20th.

This will give so much more meaning to the Packers vs Vikings games, I just cannot wait for football season to start...

I was elated on Thursday when I received my latest "Sporting News" magazine to see that there was a section with pre-season college rankings. Where oh where would my Vols land in their rankings??

Well let's just say I have been weeping since Thursday. My favorite sports magazine ever has ranked my Vols at number 62. Yep, 62. Uh huh. To put this in perspective, let me throw out a few teams that are ranked above the Vols. At #18, Notre Dame. They must be bringing Rudy back. At #37, Nevada. Nevada is ranked above the Vols. Starting to feel my pain??? #46 is Cincinnati. Where did I leave my razor blade??? Let me just throw these out right in a row...#53 Central Michigan, #54 Navy, #55 Air Force, #56 Houston, #57 Northwestern, #58 Connecticut and #59 Stanford. God please help me!

Lane Kiffin has destroyed my team and they haven't even taken the field yet. With all his Tweeting, recruiting violations and let's not forget to mention recruiting a 13 year old, my life as a Vols fan might as well be over. Steve McNair Shot And Killed In Nashville

Steve McNair, 36, was found shot to death in a Nashville condominium today along side an unidentified woman. The woman has yet to be identified.

McNair was one of the toughest QBs to play the game. It seemed like he was injured almost every week but came out and gave it his best. He was a 3 time Pro-Bowler and former first round draft pick of the Houston Oilers.

Air McNair will be missed. Rest in peace. My prayers are with the family today.

I saw this on Yahoo sports this afternoon and I think I might have left a little potty deposit in my chair from laughing so hard. Jessica Simpson bought boyfriend Tony Romo a $100,000 speed boat for this birthday. I cannot find much info on the boat itself other than it is 25 feet long and was custom made. Ok, so if my math is right that is $4000 per foot!

Is It Almost Football Season????

I was going to put up a picture of Ben Roethlisberger but thought you guys would want to see a cheerleader instead. Not sure what kind of cheerleading outfit this is, it looks similar to something I wear when I clean house but that is another story for another day.

With the Nuggets losing to that devil Kobe last week, I have been in a depression. There is no point in watching the NBA Championship series because the evil empire will win. I can't take it.

The Cubs are sucking as usual. There is not even any arena football on this summer. What I wouldn't give for a little NFL football right now...for the Sundays glued to my recliner slurping down Coke after Coke then shoveling in a few slices of Dominos pizza. Those were the days!

So in the meantime...I may write about a few things not so much about sports since I am in a sports depression. Hopefully the depression won't last long.

Kornheiser Out Gruden In

Tony Kornheiser has announced he will no longer call Monday Night Football games. He cited that he fears flying as his reason to stop.

His replacement has already been named and it is none other than Jon Gruden. He will join Mike Tirico and Ron Jaworski in the booth starting August 13th for a pre-season game between the Steelers and Arizona Cardinals.

This woman has been accused of killing her husband because he turned up the volume of the tv during a Dallas Cowboys game. It seems she might have stabbed him in the heart which fatally wounded the man.
