Office Super Bowl Picks

We were sitting around talking about the Super Bowl this morning and decided to write down all our picks for final score, winner and MVP winner. So here they are...I am thinking all the Cardinal picks were just to irritate me because I am wearing my Roethlisberger jersey at work today. Bastards!

Losers have to all pitch in and buy pizza on Monday. Winner pays nothing. Have I mentioned pizza is my favorite food????

Jan 29-14 Steelers Roethlisberger MVP
Me 24-20 Steelers Fast Willie Parker MVP
Lee 27-21 Cards Fitzgerald MVP
Mike 31-17 Cards Warner MVP
Jimmy 28-24 Steelers Polamalu MVP
Steph 30-17 Steelers Hines Ward MVP
Kim 21-17 Cards Warner MVP

So what say you??? Final score? Winner? MVP???

Springsteen At Halftime: Good Or Bad??

I like his music. But I cannot say I am really pumped about him performing at halftime of the Superbowl. I think the last person I was pumped about seeing perform at halftime was Prince.

For some reason I have been thinking about this more and more and for the life of me I cannot come up with anyone I would just love to see perform at halftime. Amy Winehouse maybe??? Just because there is no telling what her drunk coked out ass would do. I am sick of Beyonce, sick of Kanye and have no desire to watch skanky Madonna.

What am I missing??? Are there not any super entertainers left??? Who would you like to see perform at halftime???

Rumors Are Rampant Around Here

My mom called from work yesterday to tell me that some I.T. person had found on the internet that Bill Cowher has bought a house in Lenexa, KS about 15 miles outside of Kansas City. So her co-workers were in the background freaking out because this meant that he was going to coach the Chiefs.

I have searched the internet high and low and have not found anything about this anywhere. Has anyone out there heard anything on this??? Last I heard he said he would not coach again until 2010.

Big Ben's Girlfriend And It is Not Me

This is Missy Peregrym and she is the woman I want to be...Ben's girlfriend. It seems she will be in the stands for the Superbowl and we will probably be seeing lots of her during the game (hopefully more than we will see Brenda Warner).

As much as this stings I at least have to give it to him...she is hot. Way better than Jessica Simpson and hopefully a little more intelligent. So I will try not to be in too much of a depression, maybe it is just time for me to move on and find another man to obsess over.

Is this hot mess available?????? Jeff Reed here I come baby!

Ben and I Are Soul Mates FOR REAL

We had a terrible ice storm here in Missouri yesterday and although I tried my best to convince my company to let me work from home because I was not about to drive on ice, my boss volunteered to come pick me up. Yippeee! Gee, thanks.

I was very slow at work yesterday so I decided to watch the media day coverage on my computer courtesy of NFL.com (thank you for that!). So of course, I just watched Ben. A little kid came up to the front row and started asking Ben about video games. He asked Ben if he played Madden. Ben responds that no he doesn't play much Madden but he said he plays the "college Madden". "College Madden"= NCAA Football 09 which is my very favorite video game ever! If this and the fact we both hate tomatoes isn't proof that we are soul mates I don't know what would be.

NC State Women's Basketball Coach Kay Yow Dead At 66

Kay Yow's battle with breast cancer has ended.

I have watched quite a bit of women's basketball being the big Vols fan that I am. The lady was a class act and a winner. She stands as the 5th winningest active women's coach in NCAA Division I basketball.

Cancer is such a nasty disease. I watched it take my grandmother 3 years ago. I hope someone finds a cure for this disease very soon.

Herm Edwards Gets The Boot

Well well well, I had thought this would have happened about a week ago but at least it happened.

Goodbye Herm. I wish I could say you will be missed but Chiefs nation wants their team back...back to being the decent team they were. You have taken this team to an all new low and hopefully someone will be able to resurrect it.

I hope you enjoyed your time in Kansas City, had some great bbq...maybe your wife maxed out your American Express card while Plaza shopping and hopefully you caught a few Royals games. But now it is time for you to move on. Maybe NBC will add you to their Superbowl coverage staff????

Vegas Oddsmakers Are On Crack

It seems the Vegas bookmakers have declared the Patriots as the favorite to win next year's Superbowl. I am not sure what I am missing here but the Patriots have many strikes against them. I think the first and most important is will Tom Brady be the same quarterback after his knee surgery? Carson Palmer hasn't returned to greatness yet. Sure they have Cassel but he didn't get them in the playoffs this year, why would next year be any different???

Second big factor is they are missing their offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels. That has to hurt a little.

Next they have lost their general manager Scott Pioli. Who knows how much he had to do with the drafting of players? Maybe Belichick screws the draft up this year.

Lastly, their defense is OLD. Sure they added a stud in Jerrod Mayo (Another great Tennessee Vols product) but they lost Asante Samuel and still have old fart Teddy Bruschi running around.

So I am really not sure how they came up with this. I guess we will see how it plays out. Check out where your team stands. Source:USA Today

Irvin To Get Reality Show

It seems Michael Irvin is getting his own reality show. The prize you ask??? Nope, not coke or strippers. How about a shot at the Dallas Cowboys training camp? A shot at being on the roster.

Pretty nice prize but you are gonna have to be able to play. They are looking for people that can handle a NFL training camp. I thought about trying out to see if they would take a girl...but the thought of running around in the hot sun in pads with Jerry Jones looking on turned my stomach. Not to mention I would have to bitch slap Michael. I don't like him. I don't like to hear his voice. I don't like looking at his bling. Why not someone else??? Deion Sanders??? Troy Aikman??? Where the hell is Danny White when you need him????

Do they make kickers run? Maybe I could try out as a kicker. Kick a few field goals, try to convince Tony not to marry Jessica, stare at T.O's abs (if he is still working there this summer) and eat chicken wings on the sidelines. I might just have to try out for this show! I can give them a great sob story...I am a girl, no one let me play because I am a girl booo hoooo. Watch me kick a 10 yard field goal. Flash my boobs and I am in! NFL here I come!

My Life Long Steelers Obsession

I have been high on life since Sunday night. My team is going to the Superbowl! To make things even better, if the Steelers win the Superbowl, I collect some cash from our office playoff bracket contest. Could life get any better???

My co-workers make fun of me pretty much constantly. I know this is just because they are jealous...envious that their teams are not playing well. They ask me lots of questions and one of the questions raised today has led me to write this blog. How on earth did I become a Steelers fan?

The simple answer is I don't know. I lived near Nashville, TN until I was 9 years old and my parents divorced and we moved to Oklahoma and then Missouri. I lived nowhere near Pittsburgh. My mom was a big football fan, but of the Oklahoma Sooners and the Miami Dolphins. The only thing I have been able to come up with is that I was a child of the 70's and the Steelers were awesome then, which must have meant they were on t.v. all the time.

For some reason it is hard for people to believe I have been a Steelers fan since I was a child, but it is the truth. For my 8th Christmas all I asked for was a Terrible Towel. I got a Terrible Towel and a helmet which I still have to this day. My 9th Christmas I didn't ask for anything specific and what was delivered to me completely blew my mind. It was my version of the "Red Rider BB Gun". When I rolled out of bed and walked into the living room I saw standing near the tree a Terry Bradshaw bicycle. Seriously. It was a boy's bike of course but I didn't care. It was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen. I started crying. I guess my parents thought I hated it so they were freaking out but I managed to utter, "This is the best gift ever." Truly I don't think I have received a gift to this day that meant as much to me as that bike did.

The picture above is one of my earlier Christmas gifts. A little Steelers jacket my parents bought me. My mom believes this was my Christmas present they gave me when I was 6. As you can see she has preserved it by placing it in a shadow box and it sits on the floor in front of my t.v. This is what I show people that don't believe I have been a Steelers fan since I was a child. You can tell it is old when you see it up close.

So when I say I have been a Steelers fan pretty much for life it is true. This Superbowl is like the icing on the cake for being a loyal fan. So many years they were not very good, so many years of getting close just to be beat in an AFC Championship game...all the jerseys I have bought, all the abuse I have taken...it is all worth it when your team makes it to the Superbowl. Win or lose, I will still love them and hold my head up high because my team did something right in 2008.

Another One Bites The Dust

Steelers win 23-14 over the Ravens tonight. I am estatic! When Polamalu intercepted that pass and ran it into the end zone I had goosebumps as big as mountains! I knew it was over at that moment.

My phone was going insane...text messages, phone messages (I shut it off in the 3rd quarter). What a great day! Woooooooooooooo hoooooooooooooooooooooo!

More on this later...gotta get to bed!

P.S. Big thanks to Grumpy for this photo!

AFC Championship Sunday

Today is the day. The Steelers will meet the Ravens for the 3rd time this season, but this time it means so much more. Another chance to get to a Superbowl. Another shot at a ring.

I have laid out my Roethlisberger jersey, my Terrible Towel and my hat that is exactly like Tomlin wears on the sidelines, Reebok slouch cap. To make things even more crazy, I have not washed my Roethlisberger jersey since last weekend's game and I am not going to. I am kind of superstitious I guess. Washing it might be the end to his great play. Needless to say my stinky butt will be watching the game alone today. I prefer it that way. So I can focus. I want this win, I need it. It is so hard to get to an AFC Championship game. Who knows when they could make it back again?

This is me, a fan, a fanatic of NFL football. The season is almost over and the thought of no games starting next month is already making me crazy. I live for this, plain and simple.

Bucs Quickly Name Morris New Coach

The Buccaneers wasted no time in naming a new head coach for their team. Raheem Morris, who had taken over as defensive coordinator after Monte Kiffin left for Tennessee, will be the new head coach.

Gruden Out As Bucs Coach

Breaking news on ESPN is that Jon Gruden has been fired from the Bucs.

Pioli, are you listening??? What a great coach for the Chiefs!

Steelers Office Abuse

Game day is fast approaching and already the abuse at my job has started. Why is it everyone must give you grief when your team is playing well??? Did I not survive the 80's as a Steeler's fan??? I never gave up on them EVER. Most of the folks I work with like the Cowboys. Well, I cannot help it if they imploded and my team did not. Give me a damn break already.

During last weekend's game I received a few text messages...

"F u and ur dumb ass team. Rivers Rules."

"Holmes was out of bounds on punt...cheaters!"

So we made it to the AFC Championship game and I have received a few photos this week from my co-workers. I thought I would share them. Please help me pray the Steelers win or I will never hear the end of it.

Curry Looking For Love In All The Wrong Places

I tried really hard not to say anything about this...I really did. I just can't help it. Seriously. I know...I have issues...I am seeing a shrink tomorrow.

If you have not heard Mr. Eddie Curry is being sued for sexual harassment by his personal driver. Now poor Eddie is married with three children so I am sure this is making his life a little difficult right now. Especially when you hear the allegations. David Kuchinsky alleges that Eddie approached him many times naked, asking him to look at and touch his shuttlecock. Interesting.

Mr. Kuchinsky is also a convicted felon who served 3 years in prison. A person that Eddie took a chance on when hiring. Hmmmmmm, this is actually starting to make sense now. When in prison, you must do whatever is necessary to acclimate and maybe Curry thought this guy might be receptive to his advances.

What is puzzling is Kuchinsky alleges that Curry also berated him with racial slurs calling him such things as, "cracker", "white slave" and "grandmaster of the KKK".

Eddie, generally this is not the way to get the attention of the person you are trying to become involved with. Flowers work sometimes, gift cards, cash or maybe a nice dinner. Kindness goes much further than name calling and flashing someone. Just sayin'...

Pioli to Attempt Chiefs Resurrection

The Chiefs have signed Scott Pioli to a multi-year deal to become the new GM. This seems like a great move for the Chiefs. Since they are the closest NFL team to me, I have to root for them a little bit. Personally I think Herm needs to go but I am hearing he may stay.

I can't wait to see what his first move is...this should be a fun off season!

Mortensen Reports Sanchez To Enter Draft

ESPN's Chris Mortensen is reporting that USC quarterback will enter the 2009 NFL draft. Considering that Tebow, McCoy and now Bradford will stay in school this makes sense. He will be rated much higher this way since he is pretty much one of the few big name qbs coming out.

Can't wait to see which team drafts this little cutie...

McDaniels New Broncos Head Coach

It is being reported on ESPN that the Broncos have named Patriot's offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels their new head coach.

For some reason I thought they might go with someone else, someone that might have been a head coach before. Next season is going to be really interesting.

Parker Rolls All Over The Chargers

Willie Parker scored 2 Tds and ran for 146 yards to lead the Steelers to a post season win. Final score 35-24. The Steelers defense looked good. The offensive line did awesome! Ben had plenty of time to throw the ball around and made some tight throws. I was so pumped to see the running game was back as well. They looked like the Steelers of old! I cannot wait until next weekend now! One game away from the Superbowl!!! Woooooooooooooooooo hooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

Game Day And I Have the Poops

It would be an understatement to say I am nervous about today's game. I don't have a good feeling about it at all. I hope I am totally wrong about this but it certainly has not looked good for the teams with bye weeks so far in the playoffs. Too much rest I guess. So I am going to offer up a prayer on this Sunday.

Hey God,
I try not to bug you too much because I am sure you have far more important things to watch over than football games but I really would like to at least have the Steelers make it to the AFC Championship game this year. Of course I would love for them to win the Superbowl but I won't push my luck. Please be with the offensive line today. They need your help so much. Give them the strength to keep Ben protected today. Speaking of Ben, could you please give him like super scope vision today or something so he won't throw so many interceptions??? Please let the wide receivers and running backs be speedy and open. Help the defense to be strong and tough. Guide Mike Tomlin through the game so he doesn't make any boneheaded decisions. I think that covers it. Thanks for your time and thanks for all the blessings in my life. Amen.

I sure hope that does the trick...

Latest Autograph By Mail: Drew Brees

How cool is this??? One of the greatest QBs around right now signed the 8x10 I sent him. I had asked that he personalize it if he had time. Obviously he did not. But he did put a "Do Not Bend" sticker on my package because I had forgotten to write it on the envelope. So that is really cool. Gotta run and get a frame for this one!

BCS Drama At My Mom's House

My mom is a Sooners freak. She kind of resembles this little Sooner fanatic doll on gameday. I just got back from going to check on her. I stayed maybe 20 minutes. I am actually suprised she let me in the door. Normally she tells us to only call her during OU games if we are dying. I sat for awhile and got lots of good material for my blog.

Florida cheerleaders are shown holding signs saying, "Gator Bait." Mom-"I am gonna take those signs and shove them up your cute little asses girlie girls."

Tebow goes running through the Oklahoma defense. Mom-"Break that little son of a bitch's legs or his arm or his neck! Break something God Damnit!"

More cheerleaders, this time Oklahoma's chanting, "We're Number One!" Mom-" Are they just retarded??? Girls...we are losing the game...can't be #1 when you are losing the damn game. Get a fuc#@$% clue!"

Tv from middle of the field shows close up of Sam Bradford. Mom- "Whoever invented that camera is a damn genius."

Tebow goes for another long run against OU defense, jumps up, pumps his arms and gets the crowd going big time. Mom-"Why in the GD hell is this game being played in FLORIDA??? This is another home game for them. I am going to write someone a letter and tell them this is complete bullshit."

Me-"Ok Mom...I am going to head out now. It was good to see you. Enjoy the rest of the game."

Mom-"Enjoy the game??????? This is torture for me! Do you have any idea how bad my stomach hurts right now???? Go home! You are distracting me! Don't you know not to bother me when OU plays????? "

You gotta love her. Or at least I do.

Detroit Lions Fan Gets Branded

I saw this on CNN yesterday morning while running on a treadmill at the Y. I nearly fell off laughing. That might have hurt.

This lunatic has gotten himself a tattoo marking the Lions 0-16 season.

This has given me a great idea. What better way to profess my love to Big Ben than to get a tattoo on my butt that reads, " No Tomatoes Please, Big Ben and Chanin Forever." Something like this...

What do you think????

Old Lady Gets Lucky

This lady found this baseball card while going through some boxes. Thought it might be worth something so she put it on Ebay for $10. She started getting lots of inquiries asking if it was an authentic card. She called a local collector and he advised she remove it from Ebay and research the card.

The card was made in 1869 and is thought to be one of the first cards ever made. The photo shows the "Red Stocking B.B. Club of Cincinnati" baseball's first professional team. It is estimated this card could be worth $100,000 or more.

She and her husband buy contents left in storage units and re-sell them on Ebay or in their store. She believes the card came in a box that was from one of the lots they bought but she is not sure. Once she made the call to the local collector and it was decided to pull the auction, she kept the card in a sandwich baggie, tacked to her laundry room wall. She was also smoking around it. Insane.

It was recommended that she take it to PSA so they could seal it and protect it so she and her husband drove it to them. The card did not get graded however. "It does have some pretty significant discoloration and creasing," says Joe Orlando, the president of PSA. "The good news is that the sepia tone photo that is mounted on the front is, relatively speaking, unscathed. The clarity of the photo is still there. If this were graded, it would be near the bottom. But even for a card that low on the grading scale, it does have some eye appeal to it. It still presents fairly well, and that's the more important thing."

The card will be listed again on Ebay but they are drumming up some advertising and marketing schemes so there will be more people checking it out this time. There is no telling what this card might go for. But I know I will be watching!

Jagodzinski Fired By Boston College

Seems like this is getting lots of attention today so of course I have to throw in my two cents.

I would have fired him too. Yep, that's right. The little sneaky bastard did not tell anyone he had scheduled the interview first of all. He had a contract with BC. Does this not mean anything anymore???? Why bother having damn contracts at all if you can just go around doing what you want? I like that the school had the balls to say, "Hey dirt bag! You go do this and we won't be here when you get back." Maybe I am old school but if I sign a contract I will stick to it. Even those rat bastard cell phone companies get me until my contract expires.

If he didn't want to stay with BC for five years, maybe he should have signed a two year deal or three year deal. Or at the very least, come forth and said, "I have a great opportunity to go interview with a pro team can I please go check it out?" But no, they find out from a reporter.

How about putting it this way? Say you are married... Well your wife is with you for 3 years and it is good but the neighbor down the street has offered her a Lexus over your Toyota and well he is a lawyer and you are a plumber. Would you think it was cool your wife ran out on you to interview with a potential new husband? One that could give her oh so much more than you ever could. Um, no. You would fire her ass too.

*seems like my bad potty mouth has come out this evening...note to self...up the Lorazepam dosage next Dr visit*

Everything seems too easy to get out of anymore. It is just disappointing to my old school heart.

Mangini To Coach the Browns

Breaking news on Espn tonight...Eric Mangini signs a 4 year deal to coach the Cleveland Browns. Great news for my Steelers!

Dallas Cowboys Release Pacman Jones

Breaking news on ESPN is that the Dallas Cowboys have released Pacman Jones. Finally this loser gets dumped! I am just hoping that no one picks him up and he will have to start to consider a career in wrestling.

Colt McCoy Rallies Texas To A Big Win

Colt McCoy is the real deal. I like him a lot. He just seems pretty calm all the time, very composed. Like he doesn't feel the pressure. I think he is going to make an excellent NFL QB. I am glad however that he decided to come back to Texas for one more year. It will just make him even better.

I really thought Texas might lose the game last night. What a game! I just hope the BCS game is half as good as this one was.

Milton Bradley Signed to 3 Year Deal With Cubs

The Cubs have signed the angry and often injured Milton Bradley to a 3 year, $30 million dollar deal. Yes, I feel sick. I would have prefered a pitcher...oh I don't know...say Jake Peavy. But now we have an angry part-time outfielder. Great! I cannot wait for next season now.

I hope the Fiesta Bowl will be a great game tonight and cheer me up.

Darren Sproles Saves The Chargers

What a game! Darren Sproles filled in for the injured Tomlinson and ran away with the game. He had over 325 all purpose yards in the game and 2 TDs.

I had really wanted the Colts to win because as a Steelers fan I would much rather face the Colts than the Chargers. My only hope at this point is that the Miami Dolphins beat the Ravens tomorrow and then they will be coming to play in Pittsburgh and San Diego would go to Tennessee. I think Joey Porter coming back to Pittsburgh might be a fun game to watch. I miss Joey. I always liked him even though he is nuts.

Well, off to bed I go...another full day of playoff football tomorrow. Yippppeee!

Has NBC Gotten This Desperate???

If I am not mistaken, there has just been a Matt Millen sighting. Yep, that's right, NBC has hired him to do their pre-show. This is the same man that helped create that 0-16 Lions team. Why have him on your show??? I think he just brought the quality of your show down a BIG notch. Way to go NBC.

The Best Christmas Gift I Received 2008

Only my mother understands my sports obsession. Big thanks to my mom who purchased this dvd set for me for Christmas. It is the complete history of the Pittsburgh Steelers (well up until 2004). I cannot wait to watch this!

Jordy Nelson: Latest Autograph Through the Mail

I sent Jordy Nelson a couple of cards last week and I already have them back. This is probably because he is pretty much an unknown rookie right now but I saw many of his games with Kansas State and this guy will be a great wide receiver. So of course, I am estatic to get these back. He however signed with a ball point pen and so it is very hard to see but I will deal with that.

A few days ago I mailed off 8x10's to Terrell Owens and Colt McCoy. Wonder if I will ever see those again???

Peyton Manning: NFL MVP Again

Ok, wooooo hooooo, great for Peyton. But why Peyton? Seriously? There were a lot of really great stories this year. Like Chad Pennington. He got booted out of NY and takes a crappy Miami team to the playoffs for the first time in a long time. Or someone that I really think deserves it is DeAngelo Williams. Do you think Carolina is good enough to be in the playoffs without him??? I don't. He was a MONSTER the 2nd half of the season. Carried that team on his back. James Harrison was a defensive freak this season...what about giving it to a defensive star for a change?

Oh well, rack up another award for Peyton. He is a great QB, I respect him but I really had hoped someone else would get the nod.

Here's To Better Bowl Games

I don't know about you all but the Rose Bowl bored me to tears. It was so boring that I got up and put in "Burn After Reading". And that movie was just nuts so I was a little disappointed in my night.

So I am begging the football gods for some good bowl games. We deserve it! Let's pray that "Chokelahoma" shows up. Let's hope Ohio State doesn't get totally dominated by Texas. And hopefully Alabama won't slaughter Utah. It just seems like every year the games involving lesser known schools are the exciting ones. I am ready to watch a battle!

Happy New Year Everyone!

Just want to take a moment and wish everyone a Happy New Year! I hope you all have a great 2009 and don't forget to eat your black eyed peas today! Enjoy the USC vs Penn State game!
