Cubs Sign Dempster To 4 Years Too Many

Am I missing something here? Ryan Dempster had one good year and gets a 4 year $52 million dollar contract from the Cubs. If the team that I lovingly refer to as my stupid bastard Cubbies want to spend some money, then sign Jake Peavy for shit sake! If that is not enough money, go buy someone else to go along with him. I am down with letting Kerry Wood go, it is about time that happened...but to sign this guy to this big of a deal???? No way.

I was surprised at the deal as well. Don't get me wrong, Dempster had a good year, but I agree that he didn't earn the money he got from the Cubbies. I thought they were in the running for Jake Peavy? I hope for the sake of Cubs fans that this deal works out for the good...though I won't hold my breath on it.

Tcp,
I was in shock, I think I am still in shock over this deal. Peavy would have been the way to go. Guess we will wait and see how it all plays out.

The scary thing about this deal is he probably could have gotten more from someone else if he would have shopped around.

I guess the bad economy isn't effecting MLB...yet.

Congrats Dempster...Nothing like an average pitcher getting a $52 million contract.
