Experiment: One Week Without Television

I have made it almost the entire weekend without watching television. I honestly thought this would be much more difficult than it has been so far. I think the weekdays will be more difficult just because my routine during the week seems to be get off work, get something to eat and plant myself in front of the TV until time for bed.

Here are a few posts I made on Facebook over the weekend without TV:

Friday:
"I suppose this is when it gets hard. I am home now...tv screens are blank. What do I do now???"

"The evil Tivo recording light is taunting me. I walked through the living room and it was screaming out to me..."I am recording something you are not ever going to get to watch. Loser girl!" If I didn't love my Tivo so much I might kick it out of my house."

Saturday:
"So far so good...been busy...have not missed tv that much at all. Been a very productive day...maybe I should give up tv for good."

"Day 2 without tv: grocery shopping, furniture shopping, trip to library, mineral museum, trip to Kellogg lake and then for a drive. Holy crap! Seems I actually get out of the house when I don't watch tv."

Sunday:
"When you don't get out of bed until almost noon that really helps not missing tv. Yet another productive day not counting sleeping most of it away."

Jimmy's Frisky Freaky Friday Pick

Jimmy took a week off last week, he was busy laying by the pool getting some sun on his man boobies. He is back this week and boy has he picked a doozie.

This my friends is Heather Vandeven. Her claim to fame is being the "Penthouse Pet of the Year 2007". I went to her website to find out more information about her and saw that she writes a blog. Amazing! A hot woman that writes a blog. Well, until I clicked on her blog and saw that the last time she wrote anything was 11/8/08. I hope none of her fans are out there holding their breath waiting for her next blog post. Oh well, we will just enjoy the pictures for now.

One Week Without TV Update

Well it has been determined that we must delete all the programming that we miss all week from our Tivo's or that would be considered cheating. This is going to be so hard.

Cindy is having a difficult time already.
I informed her this morning that her Tivo'd programs must be deleted and I am pretty certain she just might stab me before this is all over. She would like to relay this message to Grumpy regarding the Tivo rule..."if he keeps having you change the rules his name will go on my poop list that remains on my fridge at all times... once your name goes on it never comes off, however your name can be on there multiple times." Uh oh Grumpy!

So let's get the rules straight and get ready for Friday.
1. You cannot watch a Tivo'd program that was recorded during the duration of the contest.
2. Playing video games and watching dvds are not allowed. TV is not to be turned on at all.
3. No watching tv programs online.

Think that covers it. Also for following me on Facebook as we make comments about our struggles you will have to search for me by an email address onedrum@hotmail.com. You should find me on Facebook that way. Please pray for us...Friday is coming up on us quickly...

Experiment: One Week Without Television

Occasionally I like to test myself. Do something that makes me a little uncomfortable...see what I am made of.

I will be the first to admit I am addicted to television. If I were to take the time to list every show I watch religiously, well you would be terribly frightened. So I had the thought what would I do if I wasn't watching tv so much? Cleaning? Reading? Writing? Knitting? The possibilities are endless. I might actually go spend time with my family or something.

So I have enlisted my tv watching buddy Cindy to join me in this challenge. We watch "Hung" and "True Blood" together every week at my house. Someone has to suffer with me and since I cannot watch "True Blood" this week, well then neither should she.

We will start this experiment on Friday, July 24th and we will not be allowed to watch tv at all until Friday, July 31st. I think for me the hardest part of this will be ESPN. I sleep with ESPN News on. I guess I will have to rely on all my sports news from the internet for a week. God help me!

I will be blogging updates both here and on Facebook so check it out...find me on Facebook under Blogbuster Sp.

Chiefs Sign Cassel To Mega-Millions

Matt Cassel must feel like he has just won the lottery. According to John Clayton, at ESPN.com, the Chiefs have signed Cassel to a 6 year, $63 million dollar deal, with $28 million of it guaranteed.

Personally, I think this is a bit much for a QB that had one good season but hey, it is the Chiefs and they do stupid things just for fun. I can't wait to see how this plays out...

Romo Dumps Simpson...Hallelujah!

Obviously Tony Romo reads my blog. On June 5th, I wrote about dummy Jessica trying to buy herself a marriage to Tony Romo by purchasing him a $100,000 speed boat for his birthday. How does Tony return the favor? He dumps Jessica the night before her birthday! Tony must have read my blog, realized that I was completely right and those dimples can get himself a much better babe.

This is the greatest day ever! I have really wanted to like Tony Romo (even though he plays for the despised Cowboys) and now I LOVE him! To dump a chick the day before her birthday is classic! Especially when that chick is Jessica Simpson. Bravo Tony! Now you can focus on football and move on with your life after "Yoko Romo". You aren't such a whipped bitch after all!

Jimmy's Freaky Frisky Friday Pick...

In honor of UFC 100 this weekend, Jimmy has picked UFC ring girl... Arianny Celeste. It takes a very special person to be able to handle that large sign and display it just so everyone can see what round it is. I mean, that my friends is a true talent. I had no idea how difficult it was until I saw firsthand what can go wrong if you have the wrong ring girl.

At one of our previous UFC parties, the boys all pitched in to hire a stripper to be their ring girl for the night. She drank all their beer, puked on my kitchen floor and set fire to our cardboard ring sign. I could not buy enough Lysol to make myself feel good enough about the germs she left in my house.

So give it up for a REAL ring girl...a woman with true talent...Jimmy's Freaky Frisky Friday pick...Arianny Celeste.
